stad op de schop – english

A City excavated

In November 2019 the book “Stad op de schop”( “a city excavated”) was presented in the city of ‘s-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands. It covers 40 years of archeological excavations in this city with a rich past. I was commissioned to make a series of large scale impressions of a number of these excavations, amongst which a group op Neanderthals, the construction of the second city wall in the fourteenth century, areal view of the city harbour around 1250, a pottery workshop, a knife maker’s shop, the kitchen of a noble man’s house, and the mass burial of french soldiers during the winter of 1794-1795.
